WHO WE ARE
The easiest way to understand who we are is to look at the worldwide Kiwanis club. The information in quotes is taken from the Kiwanis International web site.
'Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis International is one of the largest community-service organizations dedicated primarily to helping the children of the world.'
The Kiwanis Club of Gladstone-Oak Grove is a local group of men and women working together to make a difference. The local projects include both the Gladstone and Oak Grove communities. We also participate with other local Kiwanis clubs on projects aimed at benefiting the Doernbecher Children's Cancer Program.
'Kiwanis International plays a special role in leadership development. Kiwanis-sponsored organizations teach community service and leadership skills to elementary through college-age students.'
The Kiwanis Club of Gladstone-Oak Grove is proud to be involved with several youth and senior groups within the community. This is part of our ongoing commitment: Young Children Priority 1 - Seniors 2. We:
- sponsor the Gladstone High School Key Club.
- sponsor Gladstone Cub Scout Pack 523.
- serve breakfast once a quarter at the Gladstone Senior Center.
- provide Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to needy families.
- help support the Mount Hood Kiwanis Camp.
- provide scholarships.
- annual adopt a military family.
